Big Hank Campground is set on flat land along the Coeur d'Alene River. The area is heavily forested with a lot of undergrowth. Summer activities includes floating the river, fishing and hiking, or biking nearby trails.

Campsites: There are 30 single campsites, each has room for tent camping, a picnic table and fire ring with attached grill. The road and driveways are paved.

Host on Site: Yes

Water: Water is available from a hand pump equipped well.

Garbage Services: Yes

Electricity Available: No

Restroom: The vault style outhouses are a bit older but were clean and well stocked.

Handicap Accessible: The outhouses are handicap accessible.

Firewood: Firewood is available from the camp host. It cost $7 per bundle in 2013.

Pets: Pets are allowed but must be kept on a leash or in a kennel.

Picnic Area: Campsites may be used for picnicking. There is an $9 fee.

Recreation: Floating, rafting and kayaking the Coeur d'Alene River as well as fly fishing for cutthroat trout are the primary activities. However there are trails to hike, Fern Shadow Falls to view and any photographer would find many worthy subject to shoot. I found this rafting outfitter but am sure there are others.

Fishing: Fishing is available in the Coeur d'Alene River. I didn't fish but I hear the fly fishing for cutthroat trout is great. Check the regulation here.

Boating: Rafting and kayaking is available downstream where you will find class I to class III rapids.

Swimming: There is no swimming area but the river is available to float or wade in.

Wildlife: We saw a moose at Devil's Elbow Campground and they would live here also. This is bear country so proper disposal of your garbage and storage of your food is important. One could expect deer and you could bump into elk as well.

Additional Camping Opportunities: We have reviews for these nearby campgrounds; Devil's Elbow Campground and Kit Price Campground.

Fee Schedule: The daily fee for a campsite is $18 for 2014. Your extra vehicle is $9 and day use is also $9.

Campground Reservations: You may reserve your campsite at recreation.gov. This is a popular campground so I recommend getting your reservations rather than just showing up.

Phone service: There is no phone service available.

Nearby Services: The nearest services such as food and gas can be found at the Beaver Creek Store.

RV Dumping Site: The nearest RV dump station is found at the wayside park near the Shoshone Work Camp. The fee is $7. Coordinates are N 47 degrees 42.380' by W 115 degrees 58.442'. GoogleMap.

Nearest Shower: I could not find a public shower anywhere near. If you know of one please contact me with its location.

Nearest Laundry: I found a laundry in Pinehurst. Laundry Xpress at 608 N Division St, Pinehurst, ID (208) 682-3212.
