Boundary Creek Campground is located at the end of Dagger Falls Road on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River and is completely surrounded by the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness Area. The area is mountainous and heavily forested, but don't think you will be getting away from everyone when you camp here. This is the site of a very busy "put in" ramp for those rafting down the Middle Fork of the Salmon River. For the land lubbers, the Middle Fork of the Salmon River Trailhead is located here.
Campsites: Boundary Creek Campground has 14 tent / RV camping sites, each with a picnic table and fire ring with a grill. The road and driveways are dirt/gravel. Some of the sites are more secluded, screened with brush, while others are close to each other and have no undergrowth or grass at all. There are 6 additonal tent camp sites at the trailhead. Each of the tent sites have a sand filled tent square, picnic table, grill table and fire ring. Fee Schedule: The fee is only $5.00 per day per site. I saw no fee schedule at the trailhead sites.
Host on Site: There is no host.
Water: The water is on a pressurized system and tastes good.
Garbage Services: There is no garbage service available at Boundary Creek Campground so you will need to pack it out with you.
Restroom: There are vault style outhouses available and they were clean when we reviewed this campground.
Handicap Accessible: Boundary Creek Campground is not handicap accessible.
Firewood: There is no firewood offered at the campground. You will need to provide your own.
Pets: Pets are allowed on a leash only.
Picnic Area: At the boat launch there is a group shelter/picnic area. There are not a lot of tables, just the group shelter.
Recreation: Recreation here includes rafting by permit only, fishing, camping, bird watching, wildlife viewing, photography, hiking, trail riding by horseback and backpacking. The Middle Fork of the Salmon River Trailhead is located here, providing access to many miles of wilderness..
Fishing: Fishing the Salmon River and nearby streams is restricted. Check the regulations before you fish.
Boating: Boating here is by raft or kayak. However, it is by permit through a lottery.
Swimming: The river runs fast and hard here, no swimming.
Wildlife: This is surrounded by the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness so you will likely see deer, bear, elk, moose, wolves and more.
Additional Camping Opportunities: For other campgrounds nearby, check out our reviews for Dagger Falls, Bear Valley, and Fir Creek campgrounds. Primitive camping can be found scattered throughout this area. There are some beautiful sites in Bear Valley.
Fee Schedule: As of April 2017 the fee is only $10.00 per day per campsite.
Campground Reservations: Boundary Creek Campground has 5 campsite that may be reserved at recreation.gov as of April 2017. It is a first come first serve for the other campsites.
Phone service: None available.
Nearby Services: The nearest services such as gas, propane, food, ice and pop are in Stanley, Idaho, 41 miles away.
RV Dumping Site: None closer than Stanley.
Location/Driving instructions: From Stanley, follow Hwy 21 about 21 miles to the Bear Valley Road where you will turn right. Take Bear Valley Road (579) 9.4 miles to Dagger Falls Road (568) and make another right. Follow Dagger Falls Road just over 10 miles. Use care driving the Dagger Falls Road as the rafter crews drive VERY fast and can be dangerous.
