Deer Creek Recreation Site

Name: Deer Creek Recreation Site

Deer Creek Recreation Site is located on the eastern shore of Anderson Ranch Reservoir near the Deer Creek Lodge. It offers primitive camping and a boat ramp for access to the lake. This is a dry open site, however it is right on the lake so many fishermen would like this location.

Campsites: There is room for several camps in this area. The roadways are dirt/gravel and the only improvement is an outhouse.

Host on Site: No.

Water: None.

Garbage Services: There was a dumpster available for garbage disposal when I visited here in June of 2011.

Electricity Available: No.

Restroom: There is an older vault style outhouse which was clean and stocked.

Handicap Accessible: The outhouse handicap accessible but the rest of the site is primitive.

Firewood: You will need to provide your own firewood for your campfires while at Deer Creek Recreation Site.

Pets: Your pet is welcome but must be kept on a leash.

Picnic Area: No.

Recreation: People come to Deer Creek Recreation Site for primitive camping and access for their boats to Anderson Ranch Reservoir for fishing and water skiing.

Fishing: Anderson Ranch Reservoir offers fishing for trout, sockeye salmon, bass and perch. Check the fishing regulations for seasons and limits.

Boating: There is a ramp for boat access but the handling dock has been removed awaiting replacement.

Swimming: There is no swimming area at Deer Creek Recreation Site.

Wildlife: One could see deer and a fox or coyote around camp.

Additional Camping Opportunities: We have reviews for the following nearby campgrounds; Anderson Ranch Reservoir Area, Little Camas Reservoir, Spillway Recreation Site, South Fork of the Boise River, Little Wilson Creek Campground, Evans Creek Campground, Castle Creek Campground (BNF), Pine Recreation Site and Curlew Creek Boat Ramp Campground.

Phone service: There is a pay phone across the road at Deer Creek Lodge but there was no cell reception for my ATT phone.

Nearby Services: For all of your camping supplies, check out the convenience store in Pine, Idaho. they offer food, gas, pop, fishing supplies and more. If you don't want to cook you will find a restaurant too.

Gordon Stokes:

The Forest Service should be ashamed at the lack of any improvements in any of the camp spots on Anderson Ranch Reservoir. In this one the dirt roads are not graded, the boat launch is not kept clear of debris, there is no boat handling dock, there are no fire rings, no water, no nothing..real primitive and unimproved. Welcome to Idaho. Don't think anything has been done here since late 1800's.
