Name: Elk River Recreation District

Elk River Recreation District has seven campgrounds (or parks) scattered around Elk Creek Reservoir. There are a total of 64 camping sites among the parks. Elk Creek Reservoir is situated among rolling hills covered with a dense pine forest. There is heavy underbrush growth. I absolutely loved this area and have every intention of returning to explore it more.

Campsites: Jarvey Park has 6 camping sites, CT Park 4 camping sites, RD Merrill 15 RV campsites, Spur Road 17 camping sites, Moose Cove 11, The Point has 6 campsites and Lakeside 5 more. Each has a picnic table and fire ring. Driveways vary greatly from park to park. They are all gravel but some are long and some are short. A few sites are separate from the rest.

Water: There is drinking water available throughout the Elk River Recreation District Campgrounds.

Garbage Services: Yes, there is garbage services available.

Restroom: Each park has at least one outhouse and some have two. All are vault outhouse style.

Handicap Accessible: Some areas are handicap accessible and others are not.

Pets: On a leash only. Not allowed in Gazebo Park.

Fishing: Rainbow trout are regularly stocked in Elk Creek Reservoir and there are other streams nearby.

Boating: Boats are allowed but are limited to electric motors only.

Wildlife: We didn't see any, however this is called ELK Creek Reservoir, so one could see an elk or two. Deer are abundant and one should take bear precautions.

Phone service: No pay phone at the reservoir, however Elk River, Idaho, is less than a mile away. No cell reception.

Nearby Services: Gas, ice and most other services will be available in Elk River just a mile away.

RV Dumping Site: No RV dumping station.

Location/Driving instructions: Elk Creek Reservoir is less than one mile east of Elk River. Elk River is 52 miles east of Moscow, Idaho, on Highway 8.

Fees And Reservations: For reservations and more info about any of the campsites in the Elk River Recreation District, call the camp host at 208-826-3584 or go to elkriverrecreation.com. The daily fee is $10.00 plus $3.00 for an extra vehicle. This price is the same for all locations except for the few sites where water is not readily available, which are $8.00.

We camped there last year and really loved it! My question for those reading is, is it safe to swim in in terms of cleanliness of the water? I've heard that the water isn't safe to swim in at the reservoir
