Name: Hammer Creek Recreation Site

Hammer Creek Recreation Site is one of the campgrounds along the Salmon River. The campground is an open grassy area with a few pine and cottonwood trees scattered throughout. There is great river access at the edge of the campground. They are in the process of adding additional sites and upgrades.

Campsites: Each campsite has a picnic table on a cement slab, fire ring and barbecue stand. The parking space at each campsite is large enough to accommodate an RV.

Water: Yes, there is clean pressurized water on site.

Garbage Services: Yes, garbage service on site.

Restroom: Restrooms are flushing at the campground and vault style at the picnic area. They are clean and maintained. There are also dressing rooms for changing which is nice for the folks rafting.

Handicap Accessible: Yes

Firewood: We didn't see any available at the campground while we were there.

Pets: Pets must be on a leash.

Picnic Area: Yes, there is a nice picnic area with plenty of parking.

Fishing: Perfect conditions for fishing the Salmon River. It is bull trout country so check your regulations.

Boating: There is a boat launch at Hammer Creek with plenty of parking area for your truck and trailer.

Swimming: Not recommended

Wildlife: Deer in the area. Caution: This is Snake country.

Phone service: Not at the Recreation Site however it would be available in White Bird.

Nearby Services: Services are available in White Bird, a small town just 3.5 miles away. See Google Maps link below.

RV Dumping Site: Yes, there is a waste water dumping station on site.

Location/Driving instructions: From White Bird, Idaho follow River Rd to the bridge crossing the Salmon River, cross the bridge. The road becomes Canfield Rd. which you follow for about 1.5 miles. Check-out google maps here.
