Myrtle Point Campground

Name: Myrtle Point Campground

Myrtle Point Campground is on Magic Reservoir with one developed campsite. There is a dock laying on the shore but not actually in place to use (as of July2010). The country around is mostly flat, dry and sagebrush covered. People come here for the fishing.

Campsites: There is one covered site with a picnic table, fire ring, and a very nice barbecue.

Host on Site: No.

Water: You will want to bring plenty of drinking water as there is none available here.

Garbage Services: No.

Electricity Available: No.

Restroom: There is one older vault style outhouse which was not very pleasant.

Handicap Accessible: No.

Firewood: None, bring your own.

Pets: There were no stipulations posted.

Recreation: Recreation includes camping, fishing and sunbathing. The recreation I would come here for would be fishing.

Fishing: Magic Reservoir has bass, perch, blue gill and a few other species of fish. Check the regulations.

Boating: There is a dock but it was not in the water or even positioned as if it were being used when we visited.

Swimming: Not really; the shore is somewhat weedy and muddy.

Wildlife: Wildlife would include deer, coyote and fox as well as many species of birds. Check out the owl we saw. We have a picture in it under our Recreation link.

Additional Camping Opportunities: We have reviews for these nearby campgrounds: Lava Point Campground, Lava Creek Campground, Moonstone Access Camp and Stanton Crossing. There is also a camp on the east end of the dam.

Phone service: Cell phone reception is spotty around Magic Reservoir. We had good reception on Highway 75 both to the north and to the south. I am sure there would be a pay phone in West Magic, which is just a mile or two north along the shore.

Nearby Services: West Magic, Idaho, is just north along the shore of Magic Reservoir but has limited supplies and services. Shoshone, Idaho, south on Highway 75, would be a better source for any supplies you may run low on.

RV Dumping Site: There is an RV dumping station off Hwy 93 on West E Street in a small park on the south end of Shoshone, Idaho, which is south of Magic Reservoir about 20 miles.

Location/Driving instructions: From Twin Falls, Idaho, take Hwy 93 north to Shoshone, Idaho, (26.2 miles) where you will make a slight left onto Hwy 75 north. Follow Hwy 75 for 18.3 miles to the Cottonwood Rd /Magic Rd. It is another 10.2 miles to Myrtle Point Campground; follow the Google map directions.
