Name: Palisades Creek Campground

Palisades Creek Campground is a great campground for kids. With the creek and nearby trails it would be great fun. The area has a pine forest with heavy undergrowth. The southern hills will likely be bare. The campground has forest for shade and brush providing a bit more privacy than some other campgrounds. The Palisades Creek Trail is very popular for groups to hike.

Campsites: There are 8 campsites and at least 3 are double sites. The road and driveways are gravel. Each site has a picnic table, fire pit with attached grate and a camp stove table. Some sites offer tent squares.

Water: Yes, there is a pressurized water system with clear cool water available.

Garbage Services: Yes

Electricity Available: No

Restroom: Yes, there is a vault style outhouse available.

Handicap Accessible: The outhouse is handicap accessible.

Firewood: Firewood is available for purchase from the camp host. It was $6.

Pets: Pets are allowed but must be kept on a leash. Horses are not allowed in the campground bu there is an equine loading area and trailer parking lot.

Picnic Area: No.

Recreation: The most popular activity here is hiking the Palisades Creek Trail to Upper and Lower Palisades Lakes. Camping, fishing, photography and horseback riding is also available. However, this area is closed to ATV traffic.

Fishing: Fishing is available in Palisades Creek but it is fast and brushy. It is very popular to hike upstream to Upper and Lower Palisades Lakes. Palisades Reservoir is also nearby and so is the South Fork of the Snake River. Check fishing regulations here.

Boating: None at the campground but boating is available on Palisades Reservoir and the South Fork of the Snake River.

Swimming: Wading in the creek yes, swimming no.

Wildlife: Deer, elk, black and grizzly bear live here. Of course there are many smaller forest animals as well.

Phone service: None at the campground, however, we had good service near the Snake River only a few miles away.

Nearby Services: There are small stores and stations along Highway 26 from just below the dam for several miles downstream. One even advertised "square ice cream".

RV Dumping Site: There is an RV dump station at Riverside Park below Palisades Dam.

Fees And Reservations: This is a first come first serve campground, no reservations available. Double sites are $24, singles are $12 and your extra vehicle or day use is another $6 per day.
