Warm Lake Campground

Name: Warm Lake Campground

Warm Lake is about one and a half miles long and a half mile wide with an elevation of almost 5300 feet. Warm Lake Campground is the "original" campground in the area. It is located next to the historic Warm Lake Lodge which has been in operation since 1911. The campground is set in a mature ponderosa pine forest and Chipmunk Creek wanders by. Warm Lake is a quarter mile from the campground. This is a very popular place to camp!

Campsites: There are 12 Tent / RV camping sites. The road and driveways are dirt. Each site has a picnic table, grill and fire ring.

Host on Site: Yes.

Water: There is a hand pump equipped well available for drinking water.

Garbage Services: Yes, bear resistant dumpsters are available.

Restroom: Yes, a vault style outhouse.

Handicap Accessible: The outhouse is handicap accessible.

Firewood: Firewood can be purchased at Warm Lake Lodge.

Pets: Pets are ok but must be on a leash.

Picnic Area: Picnicking can be done at the beaches along the north side of Warm lake.

Recreation: There is camping, fishing, boating, canoeing, wildlife viewing and more at Warm Lake.

Fishing: Warm Lake holds several species of trout and can be fished from either the shore or by boat.

Boating: There are at least two boat ramps with docks available and boats can be rented from both Warm Lake Lodge and North Shore Lodge. Boating is allowed but I have seen no water skiing on Warm Lake.

Swimming: Swimming is allowed at several locations along the lake.

Wildlife: There are bear! We have heard them stealing a cooler from our next door camper. Use caution with your food and dispose of your garbage, please. There are also deer and moose!

Additional Camping Opportunities: See Shoreline Campground and Picnic Point Campground on Warm Lake or Summit Lake Campground on toward Landmark, Idaho. There are also primitive camp sites along Warm Lake Road in several places.

Phone service: There is a pay phone at Warm Lake Lodge and probably another at Northshore Lodge, but we had no cell reception on our AT phones.

Nearby Services: Many services such as ice, pop, propane, gas, candy and even dinner are offered at both Warm Lake Lodge and Northshore Lodge. For other needs, Cascade, Idaho is the closest town.

RV Dumping Site: There is no dumping station in the Warm Lake area. There is one in Cascade, Idaho.

Location/Driving instructions: From Cascade, Idaho, travel north on Hwy 55 a half mile out of town to make a right hand turn onto Warm Lake Rd. Warm Lake is almost 26 miles and will be on your right. The road into Shoreline Campground and Northshore Lodge is first. Warm Lake Campground and Warm Lake Lodge turn off is just a quarter mile on up the road.

Rachel:

We love visiting Warm Lake. It's a small area, but a mellow crowd. The lake is perfect for paddle boarding and kayaking. A lot of people go out fishing too. It's small, so not the best if you want to waterski, though we did see a few people out. It's a beautiful area with clean facilities. We try to go every year.

Beautiful campground. ATV rider's using the campground for joy riding was a big distraction to the peaceful environment of the campground.I thought they were outlawed in campgrounds.
